The first section is very calm, alternating between forest track and paths. Ideal for enjoying the splendid panoramic views. 
Then a pleasant descent to the hamlet of Finiels.
Followed by a gradual climb to the summit of Finiels (1,699 metres, the highest point in Lozère), first on a forest track, then on the GR®70 long-distance hiking path. Finally an enjoyable descent on “the path less travelled” through forest and pastureland.

From "Col de Finiels", take :

1. "Bas du Col Plat",


2. "Col Plat",


3. "Font de Sénebébios", and then "Le Cougnets".


4. At "Le Cougnets" head downhill to


5. "Pont de la colonie". Then take "Abri forestier de Mallevrière" via :


6. "Travers de l'Homme".


7. At the Mallevrière foresters’ shelter, go uphill to "Sommet de Finiels" via :


8. "Valat de la Mouline", and then


9. "Route Forestière des Crêtes".


10. At "Sommet de Finiels" return to "Col de Finiels" via :


11. "Col de la draille" and


12. "Sous le Col de Finiels".
