Set off to conquer the highest and mythical point overlooking Nyons: the summit of Garde Grosse. After a steep climb, of more than 700 m of elevation gain, there are beautiful trails that you can enjoy anytime. During this trail, you will see beautiful sections of ridges which some of them have breathtaking aerial views before going down to the starting point. Take your precautions for the more thechnical parts of this trail, the ridges of the Essaillon being at times on the side of a cliff.
The areas you are about to take is a Natura 2000 zone, known for its remarkable biodiversity. Take part in in its preservation by having an eco-responsible attitude. The steep grounds of the Garde Grosse Mountain has made its trail difficult to develop, and many areas are preserved from human activity. The forest slopes are below imposing rock bars. It is in these cliffs that several nesting birds have decided to come and breed, including the Griffon Vulture, the most discreet Eagle Owl, or the Golden Eagle.
