From the Grandes Platières cable car departure station (Flaine forum), follow signs for “Les Grands Vans”. When you get to “Balacha” (Flaine Forêt), head towards the “Col de Pierre Carrée”. At the col, take the ridge trail (Pas de l'Ecureuil) as far as the pointe de Véret. From this peak, return to the Col de Véret and continue along the ridge path as far as Grands Vans (on this stretch, you can see Lac de Vernant below through a giant gap in the rock). Head back to Flaine along the Combe de Véret trail.
