At the beginning of the village of Virieu, you will quickly notice the pretty place du Trêve with its covered market hall and some sketches of the painter Jongkind. At the Trêve post, take the small path in the forest to go up to the medieval castle of Virieu (possibility to go up by the road for an easier surfacing). Once on the heights, nice views are waiting for you before hiking in the forest that leads to the cross of the dead monk. Then take the first path on the right, contemplate the castle of Pupetières and gradually go down towards the village.
If you start from the railway station of Virieu-Panissage, follow the yellow markings towards the center of the village of Virieu (+750m).
From the church parking, follow the yellow markings and the following crossroads:

De sacrées montées et une raide descente finale ! Beaucoup de passage en forêt longeant un petit ruisseau..très agreable
