From the Lot plain to the Causse plateaus, it’s just one step—uphill! The route starts in Larroque-Toirac, dominated by its castle clinging to the cliff. Very quickly, the trail rises above the village of Saint-Pierre-Toirac, revealing wide panoramas over the valley and neighboring villages. The climb continues through the Pierre Grosse forest, where you’ll have the chance to discover charming caselles amid more sustained terrain. The views gradually open up, giving a feeling of being far from everything. Passing through Carayac provides a pleasant contrast: a small village full of character and an intact rural atmosphere. The second part of the circuit remains very wild, crossing valleys and agricultural plateaus. Then comes one of the highlights of the route: the gradual return toward the spectacular rocky cirque overlooking Larroque-Toirac. The panorama over the Lot valley is striking, especially in the late afternoon when the light highlights the cliffs. The final kilometers follow the river before returning to the starting point, in a gentler, more flowing section—perfect for savoring the end of a route that is both complete and demanding.
