The Caroux Mountains offer a variety of natural spaces ranging from the garrigue to the red earth, through steep massifs and dense and deep forests. In its heart, a remarkable site, the Caroux. The Caroux and in particular the Gorges d'Héric (classified area for its environmental richness) reveals itself to be, by the imposing character of its needles, the omnipresence of the rock and its very jagged relief, a real mountain, cut by gorges and crossed by numerous streams. Recognized for the quality and the profusion of its water, this territory has many springs renowned for their benefits, like the thermal spas of Avène and Lamalou-les-Bains.

It is an ideal adventure ground in any season, which offers a real concentrate of nature activities: hiking, climbing, caving, canoeing, canyoning, hang-gliding, bungee jumping, all-terrain scooter, golf, horseback riding, adventure courses and mountain biking .... A green way, named Passa Païs, built on the old railway line, also offers 80 km of hiking, cycling or horseback riding, in complete safety, between Bédarieux and Mazamet.

The Caroux massif and the Héric gorges, located in the communes of Rosis, Colombières-sur-Orb, Saint-Martin-de-l'Arçon, Mons-la-Trivalle and Cambon-et-Salvergues, are a classified site.
