Origin: The maple-leaved plane is native to Southern Europe and Western Asia. It adapts to all types of soil but tends to grow better if placed in a fairly sunny environment.

Its name refers directly to the shape of its leaves, which have the particularity of resembling those of the Maples. (Acerifolia meaning "Maple leaves", Acer = Maple, Folia = Leaves).
