Located at the heart of Valais, in a place steeped in history, the Hotel Restaurant du Barrage welcomes you to the birthplace of the Grande Dixence, close to the Lac des Dix. Recently renovated, with a warm and welcoming atmosphere, our dining room hosts more than 70 people and offers delicious, varied menus.
Around 60 rooms offer breathtaking views of the valley and the majestic scenery of the Val d’Hérens. A beautiful location, perfectly suited to requests and events such as weddings and baptisms, or seminars and conferences. Wi-Fi and free parking.

Hut wardened : April and from July till September
This relatively new mountain hut is close to the Grande Dixence reservoir, one hour’s walk from the dam wall (cable car). Located at an altitude of 2657 m, it offers 60 sleeping places spread over 6 dormitories for 4 to 17 people, equipped with duvets. Several alpine itineraries to Verbier and Nendaz or the Dix hut.
Emergency shelter: 10 people
Price: night, meal, breakfast 75.- frs per person, PAYABLE upon arrival at the cabin in Swiss francs or euros (1.- frs = 1 euro), Credit cards are not accepted.
The meal is served at 18:30. There is only one service.

PANTALONS BLANCS REFUGE
The Pantalons Blancs Igloo refuge is a gift from the Sion Group for all mountaineers in search of tranquillity, new endeavours and original races. May they appreciate its true value in friendship, solidarity and respect for the environment. For availability and bookings visit the SAC (Swiss Alpine Club) huts website.
It takes 5 hours to reach the hut starting from the Grande Dixence dam. First follow the path along the lake to Barmaz. Then follow the ridge of the Bouc rock and walk along the Pantalons Blancs glacier. The refuge is located two or three hundred metres along the ridge.
To take this high mountain route, you must have sound mountaineering knowledge and be sure-footed. The Bouc rocks can be snowy or icy at times. In this case you will need crampons.
If the Ecoulaie glacier is accessible, you can follow it to reach the hut. It is possible to ski to Pantalons Blancs in stable snow. The last slope under the hut is very steep!!!! You can avoid the slope under the hut by going to the pass (point 3150) and following the ridge carrying your skis. The hut is equipped with wood, gas and blankets.
