Route 19 - The big 8 of Buis

A great combination to make a circuit in eight on either side of the city and discover the top sites around Buis-les-Baronnies: Gorges d'Ubrieux, Col de Milmandre, Rocher de Saint-Julien… The start of the climb is rather easy on a wide track before arriving on beautiful monotraces trails then sections of road to continue down. The second loop will be more technical around Saint-Julien and especially the descent to the side of Serre Long where you will have to be agile and attentive to move serenely between the rocks.

The areas you are about to take cross a Natura 2000 area, known for its remarkable biodiversity. You too, participate in its preservation by adopting an eco-responsible attitude. Between the Montagne des Plates and the Rocher de Saint-Julien, this route will take you through typical Mediterranean environments. In summer, the moors dotted with broom, boxwood and saskatoon trees are animated by the songs and movements of the Bruants fous, Pies-grièches écorcheur, Fauvette passerinette and Alouette lulu. From the cliffs, it is not uncommon for a Golden Eagle or a Peregrine Falcon to observe the situation around, waiting for favorable conditions to go hunting.
