Feminine in the Pyrenees or masculine in the southern Alps, the word "serre" refers to an elongated mountain. The Serre de Créma offers a breathtaking view: don't forget your binoculars!

After the town hall, turn right down the road. Cross a bridge and park immediately on the left at the edge of the field.

1. After the bridge, go straight ahead on a small road. 250 m further on, continue along the track. Then join a track: turn right.

2. Follow this track to Col Renard (alt. 939m). At the signpost,
take the left-hand track towards Serre de Créma. After about 500m, turn right at the 2nd track. You'll come to an old meadow, and take a path straight up the slope.
(be careful not to take the left-hand track).

3. Continue along the undergrowth path, climbing steeply through a beech forest to reach the "Col de Gouy".

4. Continue up the ridge on the left to the summit of Serre de Créma (alt. 1398m), from where there is a very wide panorama. We walk across a wide pasture where chamois can be seen.

5. Continue along the ridge line northwards, passing the "Col du Bon Sang" (a good spot for a picnic as it is sheltered from the wind), and climb back up to "Serre la Tête".

6. Descend following the ridge line. Be careful, as you leave the ridge for a path to the right. A little further down, at the Col, take a path to the left. Reach the edge of a large fence and keep to the left for 10 minutes. After the place called "Pas des Maisons", join the track on the left below.

7. Turn right through a wooden fence. Immediately after, turn left towards the stream (Les Aurettes). Walk along the right bank of the stream, cross it and then walk along the other side to the bottom. Go past a house and join the road. Turn right.

8. At the junction with the main road, turn left into the village of Estellon.
