Created over twenty years ago for mountain bike enthusiasts, the Grande Traversée du Massif Central à VTT is a mythical route, a collector's item like few others in France.
Marking : Specific markings for the Grandes Traversées à VTT (FFC label): white signs with triangles and red circles, complete with the name of the route. These markers are usually affixed to trees or posts along the route.Delicate passages : A long (but easily adaptable thanks to the many accommodations along the way), hilly route (with a few physical but rarely long climbs) that presents no major difficulties.
A few technical sections in the Morvan.
An airy, technical section between Sainte-Enimie and Saint-Chély-du-Tarn (but easily avoided by joining the Col de Coperlac directly via the D 986 road from Sainte-Enimie).
No portaging, but some pushing generally limited to a few meters.Admission fee : Free access.Opening : All year round.
Subject to favorable snow and weather conditions.
