Lozère offers an exceptional playground for hiking, with some of the most unspoiled landscapes in France. From the majestic plateaus of Aubrac and the spectacular Tarn Gorges to the wild reliefs of the Cévennes and the mysterious expanses of the Causse Méjean, every trail reveals an authentic and diverse natural environment. Whether you are a beginner walker or an experienced hiker, Lozère provides a complete immersion in the calm, beauty, and richness of its vast open spaces.

Numerous long-distance trails cross the region: the Way of St. James (Camino de Santiago), the Saint-Guilhem-le-Désert Trail, the Stevenson Trail, the Urbain V Trail, the Régordane Way… and the most recent addition, the Gorges and Tarn Valley Trail. This offer is complemented by long-distance mountain biking along the Grande Traversée du Massif Central, or road cycling on the Lot Valley by Bike route. In addition, many multi-day loops invite you to explore our destinations: from the Causse Méjean Tour to the Monts d’Aubrac Tour, via the Mont Lozère Tour and the Tour de Lozère by Bike.

Hiking trails are marked with paint markings on trees and natural supports, and directional posts at trail junctions. Trails are marked in yellow (Promenade and Randonnée).
When they are shared with a “chemin de Grande Randonnée” (GR®), they are marked in white and red, and in yellow and red if they are shared with a “GR® de Pays”.
The GR® and GR® de Pays are maintained by volunteers from the Fédération Française de Randonnée Pédestre.
