MARKING SIGNS TO FOLLOW

Equestrian hiking routes are marked with painted signs on trees and natural supports, as well as with direction posts at trail junctions. The trails are marked in orange.

RECOMMENDATIONS

Before leaving :

  • I make sure I have the right equipment for my hike and the weather conditions (shoes, clothing, sufficient water).
  • If I'm going alone, I'll tell my friends and family about my itinerary
  • I check wildfire risks with the Forest Fire Weather forecast

During hiking :

  • I follow the marked trails and close the gates after I've passed through.
  • I respect nature and bring back my garbage
  • Lozère is vast and there is room for every activity; with courtesy and consideration toward other users, your outing will only be better.
  • During the hunting season, I avoid hunting zones / I make U-turns
  • If I'm taking a dog with me, I make sure it's authorized to walk with me on the chosen itinerary, and I keep it on a leash (a loose dog can disturb wildlife or herds).
  • I go around livestock herds and do not approach shepherd dogs. When facing a livestock guardian dog (patou), do not run, do not make sudden movements, and do not stare it in the eyes. Stop and give it time to identify you. Remain calm and passive. Do not threaten it and do not try to pet it. We recommend avoiding bringing your pet dog into areas where livestock are present. If you do bring your dog, keep it on a leash.
