Numerous long-distance trails cross the region: the Way of St. James (Camino de Santiago), the Saint-Guilhem-le-Désert Trail, the Stevenson Trail, the Urbain V Trail, the Régordane Way… and the most recent addition, the Gorges and Tarn Valley Trail. This offer is complemented by long-distance mountain biking along the Grande Traversée du Massif Central, or road cycling on the Lot Valley by Bike route. MARKING-SIGNS TO FOLLOW

Road cycling and gravel routes are not waymarked. Please use the Lozère Outdoor app or download the GPX file to follow the routes.

Mountain bike (MTB) routes are waymarked. Signage may vary depending on the area and/or the chosen route. Below are the trail marker signs you may encounter depending on the type of route :

RECOMMENDATIONS

Before your work out:

  • Check the weather forecast right up to the time you leave
  • Enquire about the condition of the route and its difficulty
  • Inform someone of your planned route and schedules
  • Take water and food with you
  • Check your bike and bring the necessary equipment to repair punctures

On the trail, please :

  • Respect the natural and agricultural environments
  • Stay on the trails, do not cut trails and respect private properties
  • Respect the highway code on public road
  • Keep your garbage with you
  • Lozère is vast and there is room for every activity; with courtesy and consideration toward other users, your outing will only be better.
  • In the meadows or mountain pastures, I go around the herds and I don't approach the shepherd dogs. When confronted with a guard dog (patou), don't run, don't make big gestures, don't look him in the eye, stop until he identifies you, remain calm and passive, don't threaten him or pet him. We advise you to avoid taking your pet dog into areas where herds are present. If you do, keep your dog on a leash. Click here to watch a video on how to behave with herding dogs.

During the hunting season:

  • Signal out loud
  • Wear bright colors
  • Meet the hunting team, who will inform you of the extent of their hunt and point you out to other hunters.
