parcours

This circuit is superb and exceptionally diverse, in terms of the types of paths taken, features encountered, changing panoramas and heritage crossed with very different stories. On the program: woods, bocage, hillsides, valleys, vineyards (Menetou and Sancerre), a bit of rolling, orchards, castles, Loire à Vélo, technique, and a lot of fun. This grand tour can be done in 2, 3 or 4 days, it's up to you to compose your stay, depending on your level, accommodation you want, visits you plan, local products you want to taste and take away, and above all the departure/arrival location.

To do over several days

Possibility of doing it in 2, 3, 4 days, it depends on the time you have and if you want to do it in a sporting or more tourist spirit, leaving the afternoons free to visit the places.
To book your accommodation or bivouacs and plan your stages, use the map and find your accommodation. Basically, you have around fifteen possible starting points. Do not plan to sleep in the portion located after Henrichemont and before Vailly. Except this section, there are choices for sleeping and eating on the rest of the route, it all depends on the size of the group. This is why we advise you to park your vehicle at the Château de la Verrerie and start your grand tour from this point.
On the other hand, to refine your stages and plan more daily kilometers if the profile is less rugged (and vice versa), here are some important details:
- between St Martin d'Auxigny (apple trees and stony fun paths) and Vailly sur Sauldre (Pays Fort and rather grassy paths), the terrain is less uneven (except around Quantilly, before joining Henrichemont), with some rolling near the Château de la Verrerie (small country roads in the woods), which allows for "easy kilometers" and less elevation gain.
- between Vailly sur Sauldre and Sury en Vaux, the profile is already more physical (especially after Savigny en Sancerre), it is the transition between the bocage and the Sancerre vineyards.
- between Sury en Vaux and Veaugues, big difference in altitude, the kilometers go slower, there are more stones and technical passages. Lots of choice of accommodation, services, places to visit and eating places in Sancerre and surrounding areas.
- between Veaugues and Aix d'Angillon (located on the Bourges-Sancerre axis), you will find great difficulties but less difficult than Sancerrois (except near Morogues), this is the transition to the Menetou-Salon vineyard .
- between Aix d'Angillon and St Martin d'Auxigny, the terrain is more "gentle" but with a great diversity of paths and trails, while getting closer to Bourges."
