Leaving the station of Vallorcine, opposite the station go right across the level crossing and after twenty met res look for signpost 85. The trail takes an idyllic path, «Des Diligences» (the carriages), leading to the hamlets of Mayens, Le Buet and then La Poya. Taking the path leading to the Cascade de Bérard, the route plunges into the Bérard va lley. The ascent passes via the hamlets of Sur le Rocher and Les Granges. The slope then steepens a little more in the heart of the forest. It comes out into alpine meadows below the Loriaz hut, to which it then leads, looking out over the valley and taking in the Mont Blanc massif. Briefly retracing the path, the route then tackles the direct, slightly technical descent to the village of Vallorcine.
