The Associu Spurtivu A Paolina organizes the A Paolina race, an event combining sport and history: 70 km of road running between sea and mountains, individually, in teams of 2, 4 or 8, and in run & bike format, from L'Ile-Rousse to the village of Morosaglia. On September 4, 1889, the ship Le Comte Valery docked at L'Ile-Rousse with General Paoli's ashes on board. A procession left the port for Morosaglia, his native village, to deposit his ashes.
One hundred years later, in 1989, the A Paolina association was created to commemorate this historic event through a unique race combining sport, history and culture. Recognized by Jogging International magazine, the A Paolina race ranks among the 50 most beautiful races in the world.
The event features a 70 km road race between sea and mountains, from L'Ile-Rousse to Morosaglia, with 1,790 m of ascent.
The route passes through Monticello, Belgodère, Occhiatana, Olmi-Cappella, Castifao, Moltifao and Ponte-Leccia.
At the finish in Morosaglia, it was time for the prize-giving ceremony, followed by a convivial meal accompanied by Corsican songs, to round off this wonderful adventure.
