Bivouacking is considered equivalent to wild camping, which is only permitted outside public roads and with the landowner’s consent. However, bivouacking is strictly prohibited:
In the core area of the Cévennes National Park, bivouacking is tolerated within a maximum distance of 50 meters from long-distance hiking trails (GR and GRP), using a lightweight tent that does not allow you to stand upright inside, for one night only and between 7:00 p.m. and 9:00 a.m. Motorhomes, camper vans, and equipped 4x4 vehicles are not permitted to leave designated roads to bivouac off-track.
